See ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Stars Reunite Onstage at the SAG Awards
Meryl Streep brings out her on-screen assistants Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt to present the award for best actor in a comedy series
The stars of The Devil Wears Prada briefly reunited onstage during the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards as Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt helped Meryl Streep present, with the three actresses briefly reprising their roles from the beloved 2006 film.
Streep first took the stage alone to give out the award for best actor in a comedy series, but then realized she forgot both her glasses and the envelope containing the winner. To the stage with her missing items came Hathaway and Blunt, who both played assistants to Streep’s Miranda Priestly in the film.
“It’s an age-old question: Where does the character end and the actor begin?” Streep asked.
“Well, as we’ve just seen, Meryl and Miranda Priestly are sort of like twins,” Blunt quipped. Streep then said she’s nothing like her Devil Wears Prada character, to which Hathaway repeated Priestly’s lines back to Streep, “No, no, that wasn’t a question.”
When Streep was slow to open the envelope, Blunt recited one of her most famous lines from the film, “By all means move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.”
The Devil Wears Prada wasn’t the only surprise reunion at the SAGs as the cast of Breaking Bad and Modern Family also appeared onstage together, as did The Fly’s Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis and The Lord of the Rings’ Elijah Wood and Sean Astin.
Also during the SAG Awards, Billie Eilish autographed Melissa McCarthy’s forehead onstage and Barbra Streisand accepted the union’s lifetime achievement award.
