Jeonghan and Wonwoo’s musical chemistry is sure to bring to the table a fresh sound that beautifully blends the distinct styles of both artists

Seventeen‘s Jeonghan and Wonwoo are collaborating on This Man, their first single album, slated for release on June 17. In music, often in the realm of K-pop—where the fusion of exceptional artistry and strategic industry support has propelled numerous acts to the forefront of the global music scene—where talent and creativity converge, the artistic brilliance of two outstanding musicians, Jeonghan and Wonwoo, is set to shine brighter as they team up for this album.

On May 19, an inventive teaser trailer, The City, was released, preceded by a logo trailer that unveiled the two members of the group. In the teaser, which plays out on an overcast, pouring evening in the hub of a busy metropolis, lightning hits the vicinity, briefly cutting off electricity. A torrent of fliers immediately descends from above, announcing the album release: June 17 at 6 PM KST (5 AM ET).

Acknowledged as one of the creative powerhouses of K-pop, Seventeen has emerged from a wildly independent attitude with an unsurpassed internal creative ecology catapulting to the top of the music scene. The act’s expert group dynamic among its 13 members allows them to constantly reinforce their artistic range. In addition to the initially formed hip-hop, vocal, and performance units that make up Seventeen as a cohesive eclectic ensemble, various pairings have put out superb music distinct to their skill sets and colors. Specific instances of which include the single “Bittersweet” by Wonwoo and Mingyu (feat. LeeHi), the track “Cheers” by Seventeen leaders, and, lately, the single album Second Wind by BBS (Seventeen’s first sub-unit made up of DK, Hoshi, and Seungkwan).

The expectation is compounded by the imminent arrival of Jeonghan and Wonwoo’s This Man, which comes out ahead of Seventeen’s much-awaited appearance at the Pyramid Stage of the Glastonbury Festival and follows the release of Seventeen’s best album, 17 Is Right Here, on April 29, which, while being a compilation record, apparently saw sales of 3.18 million copies.

While vocalist Jeonghan’s sensitive, evocative singing remains an integral part of the group’s signature sound and an essential piece of its vocal unit, rapper Wonwoo maintains his lyrical prowess through intricate and inspiring verses that touch on a variety of themes, from personal growth to social commentary. His smart wordplay seamlessly complements the hip-hop unit and Seventeen’s diverse musical palette. The two together on This Man will thus be a luminous collaboration.

This debut single album is certain to bring to the table a fresh sound that beautifully blends the varied musical styles of Jeonghan and Wonwoo, offering listeners a satisfying new sonic experience in addition to a collaborative performance that is visually engaging. The anticipation surrounding This Man builds as the release date draws closer, looking forward to seeing the two gorgeous K-pop idols’ synergistic genius.
