SF9 Embark on a Secret Mission in ‘Puzzle’

South Korean group SF9 have returned with their 12th EP The Piece OF9. The record was preceded by the release of its lead single “Puzzle” and an accompanying music video.

Co-composed by Zuho and co-written by him and Hwiyoung, the upbeat “Puzzle” sees the group bring back their signature flair for synth-pop and electro-pop. The lyrics involve a relationship full of deception that needs to be solved, like one would solve a puzzle: “Even if you try/ I see your awkward body language/ I’m gonna find the truth… Now I got all the pieces/ You’ve hidden all the secrets/ A meticulous alibi/ Breaking your scenario.”

The music video for “Puzzle” features SF9 take on the roles of secret agents, embarking on a mission to gather clues and solve a mystery–very much in sync with the track’s lyrics. The members gather together at their headquarters at the beginning for a briefing and then set out on their individual tasks, dressed elegantly in all-black.

The Piece OF9 dropped earlier today and features a total of six tracks including “Puzzle”– “Love Colour,” “New World,” “Fighter,” “Tight” and “Stay With Me.” With members Inseong and Youngbin currently fulfilling their mandatory military service, SF9 is promoting The Piece OF9 as a septet. This album also sees the return of vocalist and actor Rowoon to the lineup, who was unable to participate in the group’s previous release The Wave OF9 in 2022 due to conflicts with his filming schedule.
