The musician is a first-time performer and nominee at the CMA Awards, competing for New Artist of the Year and Single of the Year for "A Bar Song (Tipsy)"
Shaboozey took another victory lap in his breakthrough year with his debut performance at the 2024 CMA Awards. The musician took the stage for an electric performance of his record-breaking single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which he preceded with a bit of his song “Highway.” “A Bar Song,” a juggernaut radio hit, received a well-earned nomination for Single of the Year, but ultimately lost to Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse.”
Last week, Shaboozey released “Good News” as his first single to arrive after this album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going. The record takes a different route than “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” finding the New Artist of the Year nominee delivering a somber reflection on the past year.
“Man, what a hell of a year it’s been,” he sings at the start of the song. Shaboozey was catapulted into cross-genre stardom first with his double appearance on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, then on his own with “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
The musician recently received six nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards. He’s up for Song of the Year, Best Country Song, and Best Country Solo Performance for “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” as well as Best New Artist. Shaboozey also scored a Best Melodic Rap Performance alongside Beyoncé and country pioneer Linda Martell for “Spaghettii.”
“I’m thankful for everyone who ever believed and took a chance on me,” Shaboozey said following the news of his nominations. “For those who looked out for me when I needed it the most. I’m grateful for every couch I slept on, every no I was ever told, every heartbreak, and every tear I shed over achieving my dreams. I’m thankful for everything! I wake up grateful every single day. Never give up on your dreams.”
