Shekhar Ravjiani Launches New Label with First Release ‘Love’

The singer-composer leads the Hindi piano pop ballad with lyricist Rashmi Virag, releasing on his label Garuudaa Musiic

With the start of February, musicians have already begun building up to Valentine’s Day. Ahead of February 14th for all couples and just anyone in love, singer-composer Shekhar Ravjiani has not only launched a new romantic song, but also his label.

Titled “Love,” the piano pop ballad (with a few modern production flourishes and accordion played by Jackie V) is the first release under the artist’s name Sheykhar and via his label Garuudaa Musiic. Never mind all the extra letters, “Love” remains true to Ravjiani’s emotive composing and singing, with an able assist coming with Hindi lyrics penned by the duo Rashmi Virag.

Ravjiani said in a statement, “‘Love’ is a heartfelt declaration of the love that a boy feels for a girl. The kind of love that is destined to happen between two people. A limitless connection between two souls that must slowly brew into a beautiful bond. The song comes from a very special place in my heart and I am delighted that it is my first release through my record label ‘Garuudaa Musiic’ and the first of many many more to come!”

“Love” is accompanied by a lyric video with seemingly anime-style aesthetics guiding the look of the visual. Earlier, Ravjiani had teased the launch of Garuudaa Musiic on his Instagram, sharing posters with words such as “freedom,” “disconnect” and “expression,” among others. Garuudaa Musiic will serve as the artist’s platform to collaborate with artists across the board. He adds in a statement, “I always wanted to make songs that are unapologetically expressive, and that relates to my own creative journey. With Garuudaa Musiic, I am looking forward to composing, singing and collaborating on the kind of music that deeply inspires me. It’s a distinctly modern platform that will focus on making songs for a new generation of listeners.”

While “Love” is more or less a solo effort from Ravjiani, it also marks his first collaboration with seasoned lyricist duo Rashmi Singh and Virag Mishra, whose credits include plenty of love songs. They’re best known for writing “Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon,” which was sung by Armaan Malik and composed by Amaal Mallik in 2015.
