Sheryl Crow Previews 11th Studio Album With Single ‘Alarm Clock’

The musician also performed the track on The Tonight Show

Sheryl Crow will release her next album, Evolution, on March 29, 2024 via The Valory Music Group. The nine-track LP is her 11th studio effort and has been produced by Mike Elizondo. The musician teased the album with an upbeat new single, “Alarm Clock,” which was co-written by Crow with Elizondo and Emily Weisband.

The album announcement comes as a surprise since Crow publicly said she would not release another full-length album after her 2018 effort Threads. “Everything is more song oriented now with streaming, and making an album is a huge endeavor,” Crow explained in a statement. “I started sending just a couple of demos to Mike, but the songs just kept flowing out of me and it was pretty obvious this was going to be an album.”

She added, “This music and these lyrics came from sitting in the quiet and writing from a deep soul place. I said I’d never make another record, thought there was no point to it. But this music comes from my soul. And I hope whoever hears this record can feel that.”

Crow also stopped by The Tonight Show to perform the single for the first time and to chat with host Jimmy Fallon. She and Fallon discussed the album, as well as her induction into the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later today.

Crow is slated to perform with Olivia Rodrigo during the Rock Hall induction ceremony at Barclays Center in New York. The two artists recently performed together at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, where they played Crow’s 1996 hit “If It Makes You Happy.” Their mutual admiration dates back to when Crow presented Rodrigo with the Billboard Women in Music award in 2022. “Her songs have a visceral power to them that touches your core. I say to you, Olivia: ‘You’re going to be around for a very long time,’” Crow told Rodrigo.

The 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony — welcoming Crow, Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, and Rage Against the Machine — will take place Friday, Nov. 3 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The ceremony, which will stream live on Disney+, will also feature performances by Elton John, H.E.R., Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Adam Levine, Stevie Nicks, Sia, Miguel, Common, St. Vincent, and many more.
