The dancefloor-ready track – released as part of a partnership between labels Play DMF and Virgin Music Group – comes with a music video starring Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez
Afro-soul meets Indo-pop on “Yimmy Yimmy,” a new song that pairs singer Shreya Ghoshal with French artists Tayc and producer Nyadjiko, along with composer Rajat Nagpal. A collaboration between IndianPlay DMF and U.K.-origin Virgin Music Group, the buoyant cross-cultural collab also brings in Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez for the music video.
Pairing Afrobeats, R&B and pop from French artists Tayc and Nyadjiko (who share composing credits with Nagpal), “Yimmy Yimmy” is the second release under the partnership between Play DMF and Virgin Music Group. In 2023, they released “Guli Matta,” which also featured Ghoshal lending her vocals alongside Moroccan artist Saad Lamjarred.
This new song is claimed as the brainchild of Play DMF’s Anshul Garg, who also brings in lyricist Rana Sotal and choreographer duo Piyush-Shazia for the project. Garg says in a statement, “We conceived the idea of an international collaboration with Rajat, Tayc, Shreya Ghoshal, and Virgin Music Group happily came on board to make this a reality. With Jacqueline’s presence, we have a world class product in our hands. With ‘Yimmy Yimmy,’ we’re not merely creating music; we’re weaving a cultural mosaic that speaks to audiences across continents.”
Virgn Music Group’s country manager for India & South Asia, Amit Sharma says, “Virgin Music Group India is committed to working on global collaborations that arise from India, and taking popular Indi-pop music to markets around the world.”
