The ballad about destructive love is part of her upcoming EP
Given Shruti Haasan’s almost decade-long music career, it comes as a surprise that she waited this long to release an original song. Perhaps you could say the wait was worth it because the singer-actor’s new single ‘Edge’ explores themes that are both fearless and inspiring.
In the newly released music video, which has raked in 700k views since Aug 7th, Haasan is seen performing the song on the piano, with her plaintive vocals narrating a story that might be too all too familiar to a millennial audience. ‘Maybe it’s a beautiful mess/Take me to the edge of whatever this is,’ she sings.
Co-produced by Karan Parikh, “Edge” is part of an EP that Haasan is working out, scheduled for release early next year. “Music has been my sanity, says Haasan, adding, “’Edge’ is an attempt at portraying and owning your inner chaos and loving parts of yourself that are imperfect. When you stop looking at perfection in others, the journey of truly understanding and accepting yourself begins.” The music video was shot and directed by Siddhi Patel.
