Siddharth Basrur is dabbling in yet another genre with his most recent project, Runt. The Mumbai-based vocalist, who already fronts hardcore/experimental band Scribe, alt-rock outfit Last Remaining Light and his own solo material, lends vocals on Bollywood films like David and Haunted, and performs post-rock with Vishal Singh as part of The Library,is now having a go at punk rock.

Runt currently stands as a solo project that Basrur works in in his spare time. Although hesitant to let on too many details, the vocalist did reveal that he is looking to collaborate with other musicians when it’s time to record.

Says Basrur, “I recently started [Runt], about three-four months ago, and it’s currently a one-man project with everything being written by me. When I sit down to write music I don’t write for a particular project. Whatever comes out, comes out, and I place it wherever I think it should go.”

As of now, Basrur is focusing on Last Remaining Light’s self-titled debut album, which is slated for release on August 24th, but he has equally big plans for Runt later on.

Says the singer/guitarist, “The core of the music is punk with a few progressive elements, maybe a few influences of post-rock and post-metal. I have spoken to a few people about playing in it when I finally record, but this is something I do in my spare time when I get the inspiration for it.”
