Mumbai electro rock band Sky Rabbit’s guitarist Rahul Nadkarni launched his electronica side project called SnowShoe three months ago. The 24-year-old guitarist floated his Sound Cloud page here and also turned vocalist with SnowShoe. “While we were putting together the album (Sky Rabbit), I also wrote rough scratches and ideas on my computer. That was a year ago,” explains Nadkarni, who decided to float SnowShoe six months ago. “In February this year, I finished the tracks and stitched the samples together,” says Nadkarni.

Melodic, dreamy and loopstation-friendly, SnowShoe’s current tracklist features four songs including “Winds & Rockets,” “Plans,” “Anteroom,” and “Flare.” “I use an Ableton controller and a guitar effects unit that I keep playing around with to write the songs,” explains Nadkarni, who will soon release a new track called “Fondly.” Although the guitarist has a bank of 60 odd songs, he isn’t sure whether he wants to release an EP or an album as yet. “I’d ideally like to gig more than put out an album or an EP. But sometime in the future, I’d get all the tracks mixed by someone and put it out,” says Nadkarni.

SnowShoe performed as a solo act at Cool Chef Café in Mumbai last month and Nadkarni is negotiating more gigs in and around the city. He is also roping in drummer Harsh Karangale for a few live gigs. “I have the option of using live or programmed drums depending on the gig. Harsh also brings in certain energy to the sound, so that is always good,” adds Nadkarni.
