Listen to the first track from former Megadeth guitarist Friedman’s new solo album, ‘Inferno’
When prog metal band Skyharbor’s guitarist Keshav Dhar was making waves in 2010 on MySpace, he got an email from Marty Friedman, former guitarist of thrash metal band Megadeth, expressing interest in a collaborating. While the result was Friedman playing a guest solo on “Celestial,” off Skyharbor’s debut 2012 album, Blinding White Noise: Illusion and Chaos, Dhar is now paying the favor back to Friedman by playing riffs on “Steroidhead,” the first single from Friedman’s 12th solo album, Inferno. Even better, Dhar and Friedman shred to Skyharbor drummer Anup Sastry’s beats, making the instrumental song “Steroidhead” a mix of Friedman’s searing solos and chugging prog-metal riffs from Dhar.
Inferno, which releases in May, also includes collaborations with Finnish melo-death metal band Children Of Bodom’s Alexei Laiho, flamenco acoustic/metal duo Rodrigo Y Gabriela and David Davidson. vocalist-guitarist of technical death metal band Revocation, among others.
