Slipknot have announced the rescheduled tour dates they had to book as frontman Corey Taylor undergoes spinal surgery. The band was to kick off the tour, which will be co-headlined by Marilyn Manson and also feature Of Mice and Men, tonight. Instead, the tour will now begin on June 28th in Nashville. The make-up dates ”“ which span shows originally planned through June 26th ”“ will begin in August.

“Regretfully, I’m sending this to our fans to inform you that we will be postponing the first couple of weeks of our upcoming U.S. tour,” Taylor wrote on Facebook last week. “Unfortunately, I had to undergo an unplanned spinal surgery. I am recovering nicely and all went well! I need a little recovery time before hitting the stage. … I hope you all understand and thanks for always having my back!”

The singer has not expounded further on why he required surgery, but he did share a post-surgery video on Facebook earlier this week. “Right there, that’s where they went in,” he said, pointing at a bandage on his neck. “They went in through here, they replaced the disc, the scars about that big. They shaved the vertebrae down and all kinds of crazy shit. So wish me luck.”

Tickets for most of the original dates will be honored. Concertgoers in Denver and Las Vegas will have to refund and repurchase their tickets. Fans attending shows in those cities who have to refund their tickets will have the opportunity to buy tickets before general on-sales.

A month after the tour ends, Slipknot will host their annual multi-day Knotfest, which they’ve merged this year with Ozzfest. Performers over the fest include Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Megadeth, Slayer, Opeth and others. It will take place on September 24th and 25th at the San Manuel Amphitheater and Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, California.
