Sneha Khanwalkar Captured Her Love for Good Food and Great Beats for New Project

Working with a food brand last month, the composer-producer created a “Sound of the Season”

Composer-producer Sneha Khanwalkar has, over the years, earned a reputation as a tinkerer who chops up found sounds and field recordings. To that end, her latest project, “Sound of the Season” for food brand Licious, drew from that singular sound of “pure indulgence” as she describes it – a person going “mmmm.”

The goal – as it has been with all kinds of projects that involve sampling and finding rhythm in everyday life’s sounds that Khanwalkar is known for – was to “derive inspiration from organic sounds.” She adds, “I characterize my music as a blend of varied sounds, taking inspiration from the natural sounds present in our environment. My goal is to produce genuine and captivating musical encounters by integrating elements from everyday life.” Often on the lookout for ways to create experimental tunes, this concept of “Sound of the Season” – which rolled out in December – appealed to Khanwalkar.

She describes working with the brand as a “match meant to be.” Khanwalkar adds, “[It’s] bringing together my love for good food and great beats.” In the video that came with the campaign, the producer is seen in the studio, surrounded by people eating and intoning in that manner of universally acknowledged approval.

Khanwalkar ended the year with this campaign but has plenty of fresh music in 2024. She says about upcoming projects, “I’m excited about our work on a project titled Schirkoa, an animated film set to premiere in Rotterdam in January, produced in partnership with French and German collaborators. Furthermore, I’m currently immersed in creating music for Anurag Kashyap‘s upcoming venture, Vikram Motwane‘s next project, amongst other projects.”
