Snoop Dogg to Be Inducted Into WWE Hall of Fame
The Doggfather will become the first musician enshrined in the HOF – and he may have a busy ‘WrestleMania’ weekend
The WWE Hall of Fame’s 2016 class already features a Godfather ”“ now, it has a Doggfather, too.
On Monday, WWE confirmed that Snoop Dogg will be inducted into the Hall’s celebrity wing, joining a list of alumni that includes Pete Rose, Mike Tyson, Arnold Schwarzenegger and, uh”¦Donald Trump. Snoop is actually the first musician to earn enshrinement, and he’s definitely deserving of the honor (and not just because his cousin, Sasha Banks, is going for the Divas Championship at WrestleMania.) He’s pulled plenty of stunts with WWE over the years, serving as Master of Ceremonies for a “Lumberjill” match at WrestleMania XXIV, guest-hosting Raw in 2009 ”“ where he even took out Chavo Guerrero with a spear ”“ and even joining forces with Hulk Hogan to toss Curtis Axel over the top rope at the go-home show to last year’s WrestleMania.
Snoop will be inducted alongside Sting, the Godfather, the Fabulous Freebirds, Big Boss Man, Jacqueline and Stan Hansen at the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony, set for April 2 ”“ the night before WrestleMania 32 ”“ at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The ceremony will air live on WWE Network at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m PT.
But that might not be the only time WWE fans see him during the weekend. Last week, in an interview with Rolling Stone, his cousin Sasha Banks hinted that Snoop could also be involved in her Triple Threat Match for the Diva’s Championship ”“ probably performing as she makes her way to the ring.
“Maybe you should watch WrestleMania and you might see it, you never know!” Banks said. “I don’t need someone to walk me to the ring every week and hold my hand like Charlotte does, but Snoop can make an appearance once in a while. Some people need their daddy to hold their hand and walk them down to the ring, which is fine. Some people need fire to have an entrance, which is OK. But I’m a Boss. I don’t need that stuff.
