Soha Faces Her Fears in Buoyant ‘Jhumka Sway’ Video

Pop singer-songwriter’s second single pairs Afropop with dancehall elements

Hyderabad pop artist Soha sings away her doubts and casts away a persuasive, judging (and dancing) figure in her new music video “Jhumka Sway.”

With Afropop and dancehall styles in the mix courtesy of producer Dhyan and vocal harmony arrangements by Bengaluru-based singer-songwriter Mary Ann Alexander, there’s a resilient and empowering vibe on the song that sees Soha encourage listeners to stand resolute in the face of “societal judgments.”

Her second single after the 2024 single “Puzzle Pieces,” Soha teams up once again with director and filmmaker Ayush Saxena aka Thunder, who takes us to a heritage hotel in Jodhpur.

Soha says in a statement, “With ‘Jhumka Sway,’ I wanted to empower listeners to rise above the judgments of others. This song is a celebration of resilience and embracing one’s true self […] about transforming fear into strength and finding joy in every sway.”

While it’s been a more recent start for Soha’s independent music career, she’s already been a part of providing backing vocals on Telugu film songs such as “Chinni” from action/adventure flick Daaku Maharaaj and “Unpredictable” from actioner Game Changer in recent months.

A press release adds, “Recently, she commanded the stage at the Telangana Talli function, performing before an audience of 20,000, solidifying her place in the hearts of music lovers.” The event took place in December 2024.

Up next, Soha is prepping for more singing gigs, teaming up once again with prolific South Indian film music composer Thaman S. for songs in the films The Raja Saab and OG.
