Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley to headline Ziro Festival of Music 2013

The second edition of the three-day long North East music festival features Menwhopause, The Bicycle Days and more

The second edition of Ziro festival will be headlined by American alt/noise rockers Sonic Youth’s guitarist-vocalist Lee Ranaldo and drummer Steve Shelley, who will make their India debut at Ziro valley in Arunachal Pradesh between September 20th and 22nd this year.

Apart from featuring Ranaldo, who will be playing his solo material with Shelley, Ziro will feature over 20 Indian bands from across the country, with a special focus on talent from the North East. The lineup comprises local music and dance groups as well as acts such as alt rock band Yesterdrive, garage rock band The Vinyl Records, acoustic rock band Whirling Kalapas, psychedelic rock bands Peter Cat Recording Co, The Bicycle Days, trip hop duo Sulk Station and post-punk/electro band Sky Rabbit and frontman Raxit Tewari’s electro side project Your Chin among others.

Started by Delhi alt rock band Menwhopause guitarist Anup Kutty [who also plays with his band at the festival], the second edition is now supported and promoted by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh’s department of Tourism.
