Sounds Of Freedom Festival Postponed
The day-long human rights awareness festival featuring Bob Geldof, Avial, Kailasa and others will take place next month in Delhi
The Sounds of Freedom Festival in Delhi has been pushed to March 23rd from February 23rd owing to security concerns linked to a youth meet organized by the Sports Authority Of India on the same date.
Organizer Sanjoy Roy says that the lineup for the festival, which includes Irish musician-activist Bob Geldof, Malayalam rock band Avial, folk rock band Kailasa and acoustic folk rock act Susmit Sen Chronicles, will remain the same. Says Roy, “We were told earlier this week at there’s going to be a marathon right outside our venue [Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium] which will be flagged off [politician] Rahul Gandhi. The authorities told us they could not allow our event due to the security concerns.” Tickets will remain valid for the new date of the festival and can be alternatively refunded, according to a statement from the festival’s website.
The Sounds of Freedom is now slated to take place on March 23rd, to raise awareness about the freedom of expression and fundamental rights through music, featuring over 15 artists across two stages.
