After a few years of focusing on Onam and culture geared towards Kerala, the fifth edition of RED FM’s South Side Story expands its scope with a multilingual lineup of artists across South India, setting up in Mumbai on September 2nd and in New Delhi on September 16th.

The lineup this year includes regulars like fusion acts Agam and Thaikkudam Bridge, as well as Tamil rapper Arivu (who is playing with a DJ in Mumbai and brings his band Ambassa to the New Delhi edition), plus Malayalam artists like NJ aka Neeraj Madhav and ThirumaLi.

In Mumbai, the lineup for South Side Story includes Thaikkudam Bridge, Agam, Arivu, plus vocalist Maalavika Sundar, folk drum-powered Aattam Kalasamithi with the Thekkinkaadu Band, Chennai singer-songwriter and composer-producer Sean Roldan & Friends playing their indie songs. The day-long event takes place at Richardson & Cruddas in Byculla.

The New Delhi edition of the festival takes a fully hip-hop flavor, with artists like Arivu, NJ aka Neeraj Madhav and ThirumaLi being joined by Kannada hip-hop and pop artist All OK and Bengaluru-based Hanumankind at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The production and experience at South Side Festival will also include South Indian cuisine, art and what the organizers describe as an “unparalleled showcase of South Indian traditions, bringing them seamlessly into the contemporary ethos of the metropolitan cities.”

RED FM’s director and COO Nisha Narayanan said in a statement that the idea with South Side Festival has been to bring “the best out of regional spaces.” The statement adds, “Season 5 of the event commences in both Delhi and Mumbai offering an intimate experience of the South Indian cultural joyride. We look forward to celebrating all things south in the two major urban cities this year.”

Early bird tickets for New Delhi are currently selling at ₹499, while Mumbai ticket packages include a sadhya meal and entry to the festival at ₹799.
