Following the commercial success of their viral breakout single “ASAP,” K-pop sextet STAYC makes an energetic, vibrant comeback with “RUN2U.” Featuring Sieun, Seeun, Sumin, J, Isa and Yoon, the single leads the group’s second EP titled YOUNG-LUV.COM

Written and composed by Black Eyed Pilseung, Jeon Goon (STAYC’s in-house producers) and FLYT, “RUN2U,” rustles up a delightful semi retro-esque soundscape brimming with bass-synth adding just the right amount of spunk and sauciness to the track. The dynamic, zestful concoction of sounds and beats makes “RUN2U” sonically mature and a notch bolder than their April 2021 single “ASAP” which saw the group widen their fanbase globally.

The sonic boldness takes support from the track’s lyrics, which elucidates a woman’s courageous outlook of love and romance. Bold and unflinching by the idea of actively pursuing love, STAYC narrates the emotions of a protagonist ready to run towards their love: “No matter who you are, over and over/ It’s okay if I get hurt, I’ll run to you.” The track brings a bird-eye view on the idea of love and romance, choosing to focus on the whimsical, love-struck behavior that romance often instigates: “If something ever goes wrong, I would never blame you/ Wherever you are, I wanna be there.”

Brimming with STAYC’s youthful energy, the music video sees the members stay true to their teen-crush concept with a dash of futuristic elements. Embodying various alter-egos ranging from a motorist, archer, warrior and more, “RUN2U” switches between lush serene floral set-ups to cyber-punk inspired effects, symbolizing fearlessness and tenderness: two overarching approaches one must adopt when pursuing love.

Led by the lead single “RUN2U,” STAYC’s sophomore EP YOUNG-LUV.COM comes five months after the release of their September 2021 EP Stereotype. Composed of five additional tracks titled “Same Same,” “247,” “Young Luv,” “Butterfly,” and “I Want U Baby,” the sophomore EP further establishes STAYC’s youthful energy, becoming a promising addition to the group’s growing discography.
