Streaming Releases of The Week: ‘Hasmukh,’ ‘Four More Shots Please!’ and a Slew of Short Films

From one murderous comedian to a girl gang comeback and more, there’s plenty to binge-watch this weekend

There’s plenty to stream this weekend, from series to short films. On deck are a dark comedy about a killer stand-up (‘killer’ as in profession, not an adjective), a drama about millennial women discovering themselves, short films about humans indulging in existential crises and more. Here’s what’s new to streaming this week:

1. Hasmukh (Netflix)

Vir Das is back and is not playing a CIA agent (R.I.P Whiskey Cavalier–it came to an undeserved end after one kickass season) this time around. Leading the dark-comedy series Hasmukh, Das is playing his everyday role of a comedian–but with a lethal twist. Charting the titular character’s journey from a small town to his long-awaited big city break, the 10-episodes tease diabolical turns and twists as Hasmukh begins to realize that committing murder might be the only way to maintain his onstage mojo.

2. Four More Shots Please!, Season 2 (Amazon Prime Video)

The girl gang is back and if the trailer is any indication, the second season of drama series Four More Shots Please! is going to be one hell of a ride. Anjana (Kirti Kulhari), Damini (Sayani Gupta), Umang (Bani J) and Siddhi (Maanvi Gagroo) reunite in Instanbul post an SOS call from Siddhi and what ensues is a journey of the women finding themselves. As their lives undergo dramatic changes with new opportunities, work gambles, outrageous risks and old as well as new romance lighting fires everywhere, the gang bands together and returns stronger than ever.

3. Fauda, Season 3 (Netflix)

The third season of the Israeli breakout drama Fauda is finally streaming on Netflix. While the previous season thoroughly beat down Doron Kavillio’s (Lior Raz) undercover unit in the Israeli Defence Forces, season three sees the leader return to the West Bank to catch a Hamas member while posing as a boxing instructor. Deadly, diabolical clashes ensue and threaten the team and they soon find themselves in unfamiliar territory.

4. Half Full, Second Hand, Strawberry Shake and more (ZEE5)

ZEE5 staged its own virtual movie festival this week by releasing nine short films across the genres of romance, thriller, comedy and more. The lineup comprises Half Full (starring Vikram Massey and Naseeruddin Shah), a drama wherein a conflicted young meets an elderly man who mocks his struggles; Second Hand, a comedy (starring Parul Gulati, Abhishek Banerjee and Lakshya Kochhar) about love, insecurity and infidelity; Strawberry Shake, a coming of age drama (starring Sumit Raghavan and Hruta Durgule) about a single father who wants to be a friend to his teenage daughter; Heartbeat, an existential drama (starring Anupriya Goenka and Rajeev Khandelwal) about a woman making the biggest decision of her life; Seasons Greetings, a relationship drama (starring Celina Jaitly and Lillette Dubey) about a woman introducing her live-in partner to her mother; How About a Kiss?, a romance (starring Rajat Kapoor and Ritabhari Chakraborty) about a student who falls in love with her professor; Svah! So Be It, a family drama (starring Shriya Pilgoankar, Rajit Kapur and Shilpa Tulaskar) about a woman facing a bizarre hurdle before marriage; Food For Thought, a comedy (starring Rashi Mal, Abaan Deohans, Alka Amin and more) about a conservative family marrying their daughter into a liberal household and Boom Noom, a romantic comedy (starring Rhea Chakraborty and Manjot Singh) about experience and inexperience.
