The Moscow-based Royal Russian Ballet will also perform Tchaikovsky's magnum opus in Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kolkata
The Royal Russian Ballet, in collaboration with Gurugram production house Navrasa Duende, makes its much-awaited return to India with Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky’s 140-year-old ballet Swan Lake. The Ukranian troupe will embark on a multi-city tour starting in Mumbai before heading to New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
Directed by Anatoliy Kazatskiy (artistic director and producer at the Royal Russian Ballet) and choreographed by Vladimir Troschenko, Swan Lake‘s return to India is due to the immense success of its run last year in New Delhi””the troupe had made their India debut in September with over 40 artists flying down for a duration of two days.
This time the crew will tour the country for an entire month;Â Swan Lake will spend 12 days in Mumbai (March 13th to 25th), move on to New Delhi (March 30th to April 1st) and then Ahmedabad (April 6th to 8th) before finally drawing to a close in Kolkata (April 13th to 15th.) The production will feature matinee shows as well as evening shows on each day.
Said to be inspired by a Russian fairy tale, Swan Lake is the tragic love story of Prince Sigfried and Odette, a princess cursed by an evil sorcerer to be a swan by day but a young woman by night.
