Bengaluru folk-rock band Swarathma are out with their latest single in the shape of the ethereal “Raushan.” The song marks the group’s return after a three-year hiatus.

Known for their distinctive fusion of folk and rock influences, Swarathma has captured hearts worldwide with their soul-stirring melodies and evocative storytelling. From their groundbreaking debut in 2009 to their latest offering, the band has consistently pushed the boundaries, earning widespread acclaim and a devoted following in the process.

“Raushan” serves as a captivating glimpse into Swarathma’s forthcoming fourth album, promising listeners an exhilarating sonic journey filled with unexpected twists and turns. With its enchanting guitar riffs and hypnotic percussion, the track exudes a sense of liberation and euphoria, inviting listeners to embrace their inner light. The haunting strains of the violin and the impassioned vocals further elevate the song.

Swarathma’s Sanjeev Nayak said in a statement, “We crafted the main melody for ‘Raushan’ during a band retreat in December 2022. Since then, this modest melody has evolved in both musical composition and lyrical substance, blossoming into the song it is today. ‘Raushan’ explores themes of liberation, freedom, and a sense of lightness.”

Beyond their musical contributions, Swarathma has been at the vanguard of cultural innovation, headlining festivals and spearheading groundbreaking projects such as India’s first-ever OTT folk music docuseries Equals. The band also recently used the AI tool ChatGPT on stage and in real-time during a live show to write a song which they also performed live.
