Swarathma To Kick Off 10-city tour to Promote Second Album
Will also play Howrah charity gig as part of their Action Replay series
When the May issue of Rolling Stone India went to press, the Bengaluru band had an eight-city tour lined up to promote their new album Topiwalleh. The ambitious folk rock band has added Mysore and Howrah to the list in a week’s time. The Howrah gig that will be performed for the kids supported by the not-for-profit organization Calcuttakids.org is part of their Action Replay series, a social responsibility drive that the band began in 2010.
Swarathma, who also snagged all the big wins at the JD Rock Awards in 2010 including Band Of The Year and Album of The Year for their eponymous debut that released in 2009, have come up with a heavier guitar-led sound in Topiwalleh. “This is the first time we’ve sounded so tight in the studio,” said bassist Jishnu Dasgupta, when we met the band in October 2011, when they were recording the album at Mumbai’s Empire Studios.
This month, the band kicks off what they’re calling the Restless Tour.
