Swati Bhatt’s New Song ‘Embrace’ is a Calming Reminder for Self-Care
With a lush and emotive music video to accompany her latest release, the New Delhi-based singer-songwriter will release a three-track EP by June
New Delhi singer-songwriter Swati Bhatt.
New Delhi-based, Raipur-bred singer-songwriter Swati Bhatt has released the openhearted song and video “Embrace” about self-acceptance, her first solo song since her 2020 EP Rebuild.
While Bhatt had collaborated with Arunachal singer-songwriter Takar Nabam on “Scarlet Skies” in 2022, “Embrace” is the title track off her upcoming three-song EP, which has songs like “Night Queen” and “Paper Boats” out in April and June, respectively.
Bhatt calls on guitarist-producer Bob Lanzetti (from acclaimed American act Snarky Puppy) as co-producer with her on the EP tracks. “Embrace” flows like a gentle yet vulnerable song in which Bhatt doesn’t shy from singing about the challenges she’s faced and her advice for anyone out there who needs help carrying on. In her journey of healing from her parents’ separation, Bhatt calls “Embrace” her “source of comfort.” To evoke a lush sonic terrain, the track features harp artist Elizabeth Cohee Steiner, synth artist and bassist Julian Pollack, violinist Zach Brock and subtle, earthen percussive flair from Keita Ogawa.
In the video directed, shot and visually conceived by filmmaker Mohit Tiwari, “Embrace” offers metaphors and realities of pain and healing amidst nature, playing out poignantly to the cinematic song.
Bhatt says in a statement about the song, “‘Embrace’ encourages processing, understanding, and expressing emotions. I feel like writing it helped me to truly embrace and love myself for who I am. I hope that others too are inspired to allow themselves to feel and heal freely, and I want my song to carry that message forward. There’s something beautiful about a journey through raw emotions, and I hope to invite listeners to engage with themselves more intimately and with more care.”
The rest of the EP also features more session artists from around the globe, with Bhatt drawing from her “understanding of the concept of home and her introspections around the idea of belonging.”
