Swet Shop Boys Cancel Tour Dates, NH7 Weekender Performance
The Brit/American trio cite “unforeseen circumstances” for pulling out of shows in North America and India
For anyone who booked their tickets to see hip-hop trio Swet Shop Boys make their India debut at the eighth edition of Bacardi NH7 Weekender in December in Pune, disappointing news arrived late on Thursday.
Indian-American rapper Heems a.k.a. Himanshu Suri, Pakistani-Brit rapper/actor Riz MC a.k.a. Rizwan Ahmed and British producer Tom Calvert a.k.a. Redinho announced via their Facebook page that they have canceled all tour dates “from now through the end of the year” due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
The cancelation of their NH7 Weekender Pune set””announced just two weeks ago””was confirmed by the festival as well, who shared the post saying, “Unfortunately, Swet Shop Boys will not be stopping by Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2017. The group has cancelled all tour dates until the end of the year.”
The trio””who released their debut album Cashmere last year to critical acclaim and their follow-up EP Sufi La in May””were set to perform at festivals such as Pop Montreal in Canada and The Meadows Music and Arts Festival in New York later this month, followed by headlining club shows in NY, Chicago, Washington D.C., Toronto and Cambridge. The post added, “We appreciate all of our fans and look forward to seeing you when we return to the road.”
At the time of publishing, there has been no reply for a detailed statement from Swet Shop Boys’ management, Heems or Riz MC. Stay tuned for updates.
