Tarang Joseph Sings of a Missed Romance On ‘Time Machine’
The Bengaluru pianist throws in beautifully crafted string arrangements along with polished keys on the new ballad
After dropping his bittersweet single “Feeling Empty” in September last year, Bengaluru pianist-vocalist Tarang Joseph spent time performing at online gigs and even found himself playing at socially distanced ones. “It honestly really felt good to get back into it.” Since then, he’s written and worked on more music and recently released his latest single, the romantic ballad “Time Machine.”
The new track was written in July 2019 while Joseph was letting out emotions and feelings he held within. According to the artist, “Time Machine” is about falling in love and having chemistry with someone that you won’t see again. He says, “It’s regret about a wasted opportunity for a romance.” The song includes luxuriant piano parts, dreamy cello and violin sections by U.K. pair Severn Duo, nostalgic drumming from Sange Wangchuk as well as Joseph’s longing vocals. “The lyrics are just straightforward and honest. That’s what I wanted it to be. Real and raw,” says the musician. Tarang co-produced “Time Machine” at multi-instrumentalist Doc.Awes aka Amrith Raghunathan’s home studio in Bengaluru with him.
Next, the singer-songwriter’s plans on putting out his full-length debut album this year and also wants to do a tour around India. “Right now, the focus is just on writing the next set of songs as well playing my original songs live as soon as live music is back in action,” he says.
