Originally sung by vocalist-composer Suhit Abhyankar -- with a female version helmed by Rekha Bhardwaj, Hashmi will be seen next in the series '36 Days'
Occasionally, actor Sharib Hashmi gives in to the vocalist, poet and ghazal fan as we see in his recording of “Rahe Na Kyun,” the pensive song off the biopic Tarla, in which he plays titular character (and chef) Tarla Dalal’s husband Nalin opposite Huma Qureshi.
Hashmi got in the recording booth to offer his sublime take on the song originally sung by composer Suhit Abhyankar, while there’s also a female version sung by Rekha Bhardwaj for the soundtrack to the film. Tarla comes on the back of a few other major appearances on screen for Hashmi, including Afwah and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.
Hashmi says in a statement, “I used to sing during my college days and even today I jam with my friends. Singing gives me immense joy and this song (‘Rahe Na Kyun’) holds a special place in my heart, be it the composition, rendition and the lyrics… they’re just so soulful. I grew up listening to ghazals and this is a beautiful ghazalnuma geet which hopefully people will like.”
The actor’s next on-screen appearance coming up is web series 36 Days on SonyLIV.
