Taylor Swift prepares to say goodbye to the Eras Tour in a new teaser for the final two episodes of The End of an Era. Scheduled to premiere on Dec. 23, the concluding segments of the docuseries celebrate the singer-songwriter’s friends and family.
“Part of the Eras Tour is a celebration of my family,” Swift says in the clip, which premiered via Good Morning America. Her mom, Andrea Smith, draws a connection back to her mother, Marjorie, the namesake of a beloved Folklore deep cut. Swift performed “Marjorie” each night on the tour, singing, “If I didn’t know better/I’d think you were still around/I know better/But I still feel you all around.”
In another scene, Swift celebrates her friendships with Gracie Abrams. “There’s an undeniable bond between friends who make music,” she says. Abrams opened for Swift on several stops on the Eras Tour, and the pair performed together on a handful of occasions. In Vancouver, Abrams joined Swift for a mashup of “I Love You, I’m Sorry” and “Last Kiss.”
“I was thinking about what to do tonight and I was thinking about how much of a family this tour has become to me,” Swift said at the show. “You guys met my friend Gracie, right? She’s on tour with me and she’s an artist I really respect and an artist I’ve collaborated with, and she’s also my friend … There’s something very different about standing on stage with someone who knows you and who gets you, and it just feels so safe and so cozy.”
Family might be forever, but tours aren’t. “The only thing left is to close the book,” Swift says in the teaser. The End of an Era was originally scheduled to conclude on Dec. 26 with episodes five and six, but the release date was bumped up to Dec. 23 “as an early gift to fans around the world,” Disney+ revealed last week.
