"Anti-Hero" is up for the award at next year's Grammys, making it her a seventh nod in that category
Taylor Swift: the record-breaker. The 2024 Grammy nominations were announced Friday, and with the reveal, Swift made her-story by breaking the record for most Song of the Year nods, thanks to “Anti-Hero.” She now has seven total nominations in the category, one more than Paul McCartney and Lionel Richie.
Swift also tied the record for most nods in the Album of the Year category for a female artist, held by Barbra Streisand, thanks to Midnights.
Swift, who prides herself on songwriting, earned her first Song of the Year nod in 2010 with “You Belong with Me.” She was also nominated in 2015 for “Shake It Off,” in 2016 for “Blank Space,” in 2020 for “Lover,” in 2021 for “Cardigan,” and in 2023 for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version).” She’s never won the award.
This year, “Anti-Hero” is up against Lana Del Rey’s “A&W,” Jon Batiste’s “Butterfly,” Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night,” Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers,” SZA’s “Kill Bill,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire,” and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”
Swift earned a total of six nods this year. Along with Song of the Year, “Anti Hero” is up for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. Midnights is also up for Best Pop Vocal Album, and “Karma” with Ice Spice is up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
As for the Album of the Year record tie with Streisand, Swift has been nominated for LPs Fearless, Red, 1989, Folklore, and Evermore. And now, Midnights. Swift has won Album of the Year three times already — for Fearless, 1989, and Folklore — and could become the first artist to take the prize home four times (a feat only accomplished so far by mixing and mastering engineers).
Swift was among the leaders in the nominations list this year, following SZA, who had nine nods, and Victoriá Monét, who secured seven. Swift tied with Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Jon Batiste, Billie Eilish, Brandy Clark, and Boygenius, who got six nods each.
