TesseracT Set to Headline IISc Pravega 2019 in Bengaluru
The British prog metallers make their long awaited return to India next year, with an additional show in Mumbai
Even though their countrywide tour was jinxed earlier this year, U.K. progressive metal band TesseracT seem to have found a willing promoter (Bengaluru-based Bohemian Live) to make their return to India. TesseracT will headline the Indian Institute of Science’s annual cultural festival Pravega’s Pro-Nites on January 20th, 2019. A prior more intimate show in Mumbai is confirmed for January 18th.
On the back of promoting their fourth full-length album Sonder ”“ which released in April this year ”“ TesseracT take to the stage after about eight years, considering they were unable to perform in 2013 due to a washed out conditions at Bacardi NH7 Weekender’s Bengaluru edition. A tour organized by Bengaluru venue The Humming Tree was slated for earlier this year, but did not get finalized. Bassist Amos Williams told us in an earlier interview, “Yeah that was intense, wasn’t it? All the electric supply disappeared from the stage, the stage started sinking. Everything was ready, but the weather just got worse. I felt terrible for everybody who was waiting for the show.” The band ”“ best known for their emotive, energetic and complex but groovy style of metal ”“ made their first visit to India in 2010, performing alongside Swedish metallers Meshuggah at festival series The Great Indian Rock, followed by an appearance at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2011.
TesseracT are officially the second international headline act to perform at Pravega, following American metallers Intronaut’s performance in 2017. Last year, Pravega’s Pro-Nite was headlined by Kerala fusion rock/metal band Thaikkudam Bridge. Stay tuned for more details.
