‘The Bourne Legacy’ Doesn’t Feel Right Without Matt Damon

The Jeremy Renner reboot is 'clearly a commercial venture'

After three successful Bourne films starring Matt Damon, the series gets a reboot with The Bourne Legacy, featuring Jeremy Renner as badass protagonist Aaron Cross. The first three Bourne films became fan favorites with big time explosions, tons of car chases and gunplay and, of course, Matt Damon. So does The Bourne Legacy do justice to the series?

“It doesn’t feel right without Matt Damon,” says Travers. “It’s clearly a commercial venture.” But that doesn’t mean it’s all bad. “Am I saying write the whole thing off and don’t go? Not quite,” Travers continues, pointing to a couple gunfights involving Rachel Weisz’s character and a thrilling car chase set in Manila. “I didn’t understand a damn thing, but let’s mark this on a curve and say. . . you could do worse.”
