After a successful five-year run in New Delhi, indie music festival The Gig Week 6.0 is set to make its Mumbai debut tonight. It will be spread across four venues in the city and feature both established and rising talent.
Festival co-founders Anubhav Gupta and Jubin Jacob say that when they started out in 2011, their aim was to create multiples spaces where both local bands and their fans could indulge in live music for a full week. The inaugural edition of The Gig Week saw a turnout of 1,400 attendees, and over the years, it has grown by leaps and bounds. “The core point we look at is definitely programming,” explains Gupta about the reasons for The Gig Week’s growth. He says the success of the show lies in bringing to the audiences artists they don’t usually get to see. “This time in Delhi, we brought in artists from other parts of the country rather than have the same musicians come back again and again,” says Gupta. “We’re going to try the same thing with Mumbai.”
The Mumbai leg of The Gig Week will be held across Café Zoe (Lower Parel), Antisocial Khar, Todi Mill Social (Lower Parel) and Summerhouse Café (Lower Parel). On the bill are various New Delhi-based artists including bass producer UP7T and The Stage Season 2 winner Sharvi Yadav. Others on the lineup include Bengaluru-based electronic producer _RHL and indie/acoustic band When Chai Met Toast, Shillong blues band Soulmate, Chennai alt-rockers The F16s, Mumbai singer-songwriter Aarifah Rebello and British music producer The Last Skeptik. Gupta says, “We’re also planning to do Bengaluru sometime within this year.”

January 18th, AntiSocial, Mumbai
January 19th, Todi Mill Social, Mumbai
January 20th, Todi Mill Social, Mumbai
