The Lightyears Explode is a three-piece punk rock band from Mumbai. Formed in 2009, the band consists of drummer Aaron Carvalho, bassist Shalom Benjamin and vocalist/guitarist Saurabh Roy. Their music features punk riffs, tight basslines and dance-punk drumming with tongue-in-cheek references to Bollywood films in their lyrics. Their songs have featured on the third and fourth editions of indie compilation series Stupiditties released by indie label, ennui.BOMB. They were also winners of Channel V’s Launchpad band competition in 2011. The same year, they released their self-titled debut EP. In April 2013, they launched their debut album, The Revenge Of Kalicharan, featuring Rohit P-Man Pereira [frontman of electro act ViceVersa] on the track “The P-Man Explodes,” followed by a multi-city tour. Their track “Kunj Gutka” [renamed as “Three Kills”] featured in the Bollywood film David in 2013.
