‘Ahn Daeseong’ (Lee Kwangsoo) has a fantastic memory, but not enough to help him pass the ninth-grade civil service exam. As a result, he is jobless and works as a cashier at ‘MS Mart’, owned by his mother, ‘Jeong Myeongsook’ (Jin Heekyeong). His girlfriend, ‘Do Ahhee’ (Kim Seolhyeon), is a police officer, on the other hand. One day a strange murder case unfolds at a nearby apartment building which Ah Hee begins to investigate with Ahn and Jeong as a team. What’s stranger is, that the only clue in the murder case happens to be a receipt issued by the mart.
The supermarket comic-investigation K-drama is a collaboration between director Lee Eonhee and writer Han Jiwan. The teaser poster is creatively designed. The placement of food, weapons, and tools, strewn across the floor, as well as dark red ketchup spurting like blood from the sauce bottle, triggers interest. Besides Lee Kwangsoo’s distinct expressions of terror, add to the look and feel of the poster.
The teaser additionally adds to the curiosity. Dae Seong is shown at the cash counter, rummaging through a customer’s groceries (who isn’t featured in the teaser). He is shown as being intrigued and surprised by the gruesome goods on display, particularly a stabbed fish with a moving eye (which causes him to scream aloud in fright). The best is revealed on the final card that reads “The culprit is in the receipt” and a voice-over that says “Please discard the receipt.”
