The National Premiere ‘Sea of Love’ Clip in Reddit AMA

Band rocks out in a minuscule room before a little kid outdoes them

The National surprised fans today by debuting a video for their new track “Sea of Love” during their Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session. In the clip, the musicians break out of their usual grave seriousness and rock out with intensity in a tiny room. But a little kid soon struts in and puts their moves to shame with his own rock-star poses. As Pitchfork notes, the clip pays homage to this seemingly Eastern European music video.

The band also said in the AMA that they’re planning to release their six-hour performance of “Sorrow” from New York’s MoMA PS1 last weekend on vinyl, with proceeds going to charity. Guitarist Aaron Dessner hinted at a future collaboration with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, saying it would “probably” involve “the Grateful Dead’s music and charity.” The National teamed with Grateful Dead and Furthur guitarist Bob Weir for a special webcast in March 2012.

“Sea of Love” will be on the National’s forthcoming album, Trouble Will Find Me, which is due out May 21st.
