Australian folk and rock band The Paper Kites, best known for songs like “Bloom,” will make their India debut in March 2025, performing in Bengaluru and Mumbai.
The band, formed in 2010 and comprising Sam Bentley, Christina Lacy, David Powys, Samuel Rasmussen and Josh Bentley, will perform in Bengaluru on Mar. 20, 2025, and in Mumbai on Mar. 21, 2025, as part of gig series LiveBox, produced by ticketing company SkillBox.
The band said in a social media post, “India we’re coming to you for the first time this March! We’ll be playing two shows in Bangalore & Mumbai and are thrilled to finally be able to play for you all. Tickets on sale now, venues to be announced soon.”
It’s perhaps a stream-led calculation for the promoters to bring down The Paper Kites. A press release mentions that the ARIA-nominated group have released five studio albums, with their 2021 album Roses garnering over 88 million streams and Double J’s Feature Album. It adds, “They received 160 million streams in 2022 alone from their 6.5 million monthly listeners – and over 1 billion streams across their catalogue.”
In addition to the platinum-selling single “Bloom” from their 2011 EP Woodland, the band will be in India performing their new album At The Roadhouse which released in 2023. The Paper Kites will arrive in India on the back of touring several other parts of the world, including sold-out shows across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, Germany, Ireland, France, Denmark and The Netherlands. A press release adds, “Earnest and sincere, The Paper Kites have captured hearts around the globe for their moving performances and cherished songwriting.”
Tickets for both Bengaluru and Mumbai shows are now live, selling at ₹1,999 onwards, with venues and supporting acts yet to be announced.
