Premiere: The Shiv and Muhfaad Hit the Club for Seductive ‘Mercy’ Video

Muzaffarpur-origin artist teams up with the ‘Pablo’ rapper and New Delhi producer Funkaar

Marking his birthday today, Oct. 8, rapper The Shiv has released a new song and music video for “Mercy,” his collaboration with New Delhi hip-hop artist Muhfaad and producer-songwriter Funkaar.

In the video directed by Daman Deep Singh, the artists are doused in opulence and have plenty of company as they turn on the charm. While it has all the makings of a party track, The Shiv – behind songs like “Zakham” and “Me & You” – says it’s also a “bold celebration of ambition, creativity, and relentless drive.”

The Muzaffarpur, Bihar-origin artist says in a statement about the collaboration, “Working on ‘Mercy’ was like diving into a whole new world of creativity with Funkaar and Muhfaad bhai by my side in the studio. We put our hearts into making this banger just right.” He says that when they finished the song, they were excited for the song to be their “big break” not just in India but worldwide. He adds, “We were so pumped that we immediately started planning the music video. And when it all came together, we knew ‘Mercy’ was the game-changer we’d been waiting for. It’s the song that’s turning the tables in our favor.”

Muhfaad, for his part, says in a statement that The Shiv was not just an “exceptional writer but also an incredibly talented vocalist.” He adds, “His [The Shiv’s] ability to bring raw emotion and depth to the music is truly impressive, and working together on this project has been a creative journey. The song ‘Mercy’ is something special, and I know it’s going to resonate with our fans, who I consider my extended family.”

The song follows The Shiv’s previous songs like “H.E.R” and “Zakham” from 2024, plus his more spiritually-themed song “Damru” and a dedication to cricketer Virat Kohli called “King Kohli.” Muhfaad, for his part, put out “Balls of Steel” with producer Xtacy last week and scored big hits with songs like “DL9CAP” and “Lambe Ladke,” both tracks in collaboration with Funkaar.
