The Ska Vengers’ Vocalist And Rapper Get Together For Improv Gigs

Delhi Sultanate and Miss Samara C kick off a series of shows where they will perform all new material

Putting their “ideological battles to rhythm and reggae” is what makes Delhi’s Taru Dalmia, who goes by the moniker Delhi Sultanate and Miss Samara C click as a duo. While they’re yet totheir side project and tell us that they do what they do just for fun, the two will bring a mix of reggae and electronica to stage this week. The duo will play an hour-long set at High Spirits, Pune for a ROLLING STONE Live event, performing ska, word pop and improvise rhymes to an electronica set spun by DJ Reji on the decks.

Will it be anything like The Ska Vengers show? Highly unlikely tells us Dalmia. There’s no set list in place and if requests come up for The Ska Vengers hits, then they may just decide to please the crowd. “It’s a reggae sound system that both Samara and I have put together. It’ll be a nice, easy afternoon set. [DJ] Reji will be mashing a lot of roots reagge with dancehall, drum ”˜n’ bass and electro house for an hour long set,” he says. This is also the first time that DJ Reji is performing with the duo.

Dalmia and Samara recently performed a three-city tour of the US this summer where they performed at clubs in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. Tonight, Dalmia and Samara C will perform with DJ Reji at Bonobo in Mumbai before heading out to perform in Pune tomorrow.
