Radiohead side project quietly released 12" single for the studio version of the track — a live staple at their 2024 shows — last week to indie record stores

Radiohead side project The Smile have shared their new song “Don’t Get Me Started,” which first arrived surreptitiously last week as a vinyl-only release to independent record stores.
The track was paired with an animated video created by audiovisual artist Weirdcore, who previously teamed with Radiohead on a short visual for their A Moon Shaped Pool track “Glass Eyes.”
“Don’t Get Me Started,” recorded in both Oxford and Abbey Road Studios, was produced and mixed by Sam Petts-Davies, who produced the Smile’s 2024 LP Wall Of Eyes, one of the best albums of the year so far. The song originally premiered live earlier this year on the band’s tour in support of that album and was a mainstay throughout the Smile’s since-canceled European trek.
The extremely limited edition 12″ single was accompanied by another new track, “The Slip,” which remains off-streaming and vinyl-only.
Coinciding with the new single, the Smile were scheduled to begin the second leg of their European tour on August 7 but canceled the trek in July after guitarist Jonny Greenwood became ill from an infection.
“A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill from an infection that needed emergency hospital treatment, some of it in intensive care,” the trio of Thom Yorke, Greenwood and drummer Tom Skinner said in a statement. “Mercifully he is now out of danger and will soon return home.”
The band added, “We have been instructed by the medical team in charge of Jonny’s care to cancel all engagements until he has had time to make a full recovery.”
Jonny’s brother and Radiohead band mate Colin Greenwood added a week later on social media, “Now he’s recuperating at home and watching reruns of Seinfeld – so relieved he’s better…”
