The Uncertainty Principle

The Uncertainty Principle is a New Delhi based Progressive Rock/Alt Rock band formed in September of 2010. It began as a two-man guitar project consisting of Abhishek Rajan (Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals) and Nishant Kurup (Rhythm Guitar) and in 2011 they added Siddharth Rajan (Bass), Keith Peter (Drums and Backing Vocals) and Raghav Meattle (vocals). Meattle left the band in February 2013, citing personal differences and Shashank Chandak was recruited as a replacement in March that year. Initially beginning as an alt rock band their sound soon moved to more progressive rock, delivering edgy and powerful guitar rhythms and melodic vocals. In 2011, they won the band competition Blitzkrieg at IIT New Delhi, which helped them make their mark on the music scene. They were also Runners-up at BITS Goa ’12 and Hard Rock Rising and Second Runners up in Synchronicity at IIT Kanpur in 2012. The band has opened for International acts like alt rock band Dead Letter Circus and metal bands Viatrophy and Sylosis. They were one of the five bands to play the Ray Ban’s 75th Anniversary Celebrations in Mumbai in 2012 and also shot a video and collaborated Indian rock veterans, Indus Creed. They have released two singles online and are working on a nine-track album to release towards the end of 2013. They were one of Rolling Stone’s Artist To Watch Out For in January 2013.
