The Vinyl Records is an all-girl post punk/new wave band from New Delhi formed in 2010. They began as a trio in North East India, consisting of school friends Banu Jini (guitars and vocals), Minam Tekseng (bass and vocals) and Mithy Tatak (drums). The trio later met Cheyyrian Bark (Keytarist and Lead Vocals) after moving to New Delhi in 2011. Their music is described as being a fusion of post-punk and the new wave era of Seventies and Eighties rock, with a touch of glam from the keytar. They were among the 15 finalists of the Ray Ban Never Hide Sounds in 2012. While they have not released any albums yet, they have released their singles such as “Coco Bomb” and “Ready Set Go” online and will release their four-track debut EP, Whims, in October 2013. The band has performed at a number of venues such as Hard Rock Café Pune and Mumbai, TLR Café in Delhi and the 7 Sisters Rock Fest in New Delhi in 2011, among others.
