She was gone for a minute but Rita Ora came back this year with a string of radio-ready, Top 40 hits and she found a way to incorporate her beau, filmmaker husband Taika Waititi into the mix. “Praising You” was a brilliant interpolation of Fatboy Slim’s iconic “Praise You”. Ora’s version featuring Slim adds a personal narrative to the single, taking an otherwise melancholic indie dance track into a romantic hype song about one’s partner. Ora has always given us hits but this one’s added nostalgia and getting Slim in on the fun made for a commendable update to a smash from the 1990’s.
