It was a joy to hear Tori Kelly return with “Missin U”, a breath of fresh pop air. Kelly’s collaboration with Jon Bellion wasn’t thankfully just a one-time affair. It manifested in an EP and for me, “Shelter” is THE best record Kelly has put out that really should have been a spectacular return and dare I say perhaps her career’s biggest Top 40 record. I don’t know why the track wasn’t pushed as it is such a fantastic single, carried by Kelly’s outstanding vocals. Her ode to 90’s R&B is so on point here, you really wonder why despite huge industry love and respect the artist is unable to make a dent at radio. Honestly, in my mind, and as reflected on the charts here, one of the biggest pop records of the year.
