Travis Kelce Declares ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Favorite Album of the Year

The Chiefs star hosted his second Kelce Jam festival in Kansas on Saturday

While Taylor Swift was in Stockholm, Sweden on the Eras Tour, Travis Kelce threw a massive outdoor party for his second annual Kelce Jam presented by Jim Beam in Bonner Springs, Kansas on Saturday. Held at the Azura Amphitheater, the event featured headlining performances from 2 Chainz, Diplo, and Lil Wayne.

While speaking exclusively with Rolling Stone, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed his favorite album released in the past year. “I’m a little biased, but Tortured Poets Department might be it,” said Kelce. The double album spans 31 tracks, and the Super Bowl champ has been speculated to be the subject of football metaphor-filled “The Alchemy” and “So High School.”

While Swift couldn’t make it in-person for the fest, the 14-time Grammy winner was featured in its welcome video, which included a shot of her on the field amid their Super Bowl LVIII victory. Kelce frequently took to the stage on Saturday night, joining Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz for a surprise performance of “Duffle Bag Boy” and at one point brought his teammate, all-world quarterback Patrick Mahomes, in front of the crowd of 20,000 fans, as Kansas City continued to celebrate their championship win.

The Chiefs star also shared his thoughts on a Chiefs three-peat. “We’re trying our hardest,” said Kelce. “I know the front office — Brett Veach, Coach Reid, and everybody — have been doing a great job of molding this team already and we’ve got the rest of this off-season in training camp to really get this thing going before the season starts.”

When asked on the likelihood of his brother Jason Kelce, who recently retired after 13 years with the Philadelphia Eagles, coming out of retirement to join the Chiefs, Kelce chuckled and said, “Jason is a loyal guy, I think the only way he’d come out of retirement is if the Eagles get him.”

Since winning the Super Bowl in February, the tight end has landed his first major acting role in Ryan Murphy‘s next project, FX horror series Grotesquerie, and will star opposite Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville in the series.
