The Down Troddence Win Big At Zippo Presents Rolling Stone Metal Awards 2014

The Bengaluru-based folk metal band pick up eight out of 13 trophies including the Best Band Award

The fifth edition of the Zippo Presents Rolling Stone Metal Awards drew a legion of metalheads to Blue Frog, Mumbai. There were fans of every genre ”“ modern metal bands such as hardcore/prog metallers Reverrse Polarity were as well received as established metal acts such as extreme metal band Demonic Resurrection and Aizawl death metallers Third Sovereign. But riding the wave were Bengaluru folk metal band The Down Troddence [TDT].

The Bengaluru band performed a crushing set, followed by Third Sovereign’s first Mumbai show in five years. Demonic Resurrection gave fans a taste of new material, premiering new material from their fourth album, The Demon King

Among the 13 awards given away, The Down Troddence made a clean sweep of the top three awards of Best Band, Best Album [for their debut album How Are You? We are Fine, Thank You] and Best Song [“Nagavalli”] in both Critics’ Choice and Popular Choice categories. Mumbai death metallers Reptilian Death tied with TDT for Best Band in the Critics’ choice category,the final award of the night. Additionally, the band’s guitarist Varun Raj also picked up the Best Guitarist award.
