Bringing in her birthday with a new song, Hindi pop artist Tulsi Kumar dropped the music video for “Tu Mera,” capturing a bittersweet love story that goes over breezy, guitar-inflected electronic-pop production and composing by Prasoon Srivastava.
With the music video directed by filmmaker Sumit Baruah and featuring Kumar in the lead with actor Zaan Khan, “Tu Mera” also kicks off the Hindi pop artist’s latest song release project Truly Konnected, via T-Series. Reportedly trying out a “different sound and music sensibility” compared to her previously mainstream, bombastic pop sound, a press release notes that “Tu Mera” marks a change in Kumar’s approach as an artist.
The singer says in her statement, “‘Tu Mera’ is a very different song with an indie touch to it and unlike anything I’ve done before. As a part of my Truly Konnected series, this track is very special to me and is very young, fresh and breezy. I enjoyed the experience of penning the lyrics and singing the song because I’m personally connected to it. I hope my fans enjoy my special ‘dedication’ to them.”
Composer Prasoon Srivastava added in his statement, “The song is very free-spirited so we kept the arrangement in a way that blends guitar tunes with interesting beats. Tulsi had a very clear vision with this track and I’m happy with how the song turned out.”
