Turn It Up To 11: Keshav Dhar of Skyharbor
The prog metal guitarist of Skyharbor and producer is cranking it up with these tunes right now
Guitarist Keshav Dhar went from bedroom jamming [as Hydrodjent] to being a part of one of the top prog metal bands [Skyharbor], when he launched Skyharbor’s first album, Blinding White Niose: Illusion and Chaos, in April last year. Dhar was picked as the Best Guitarist at the Rolling Stone Metal Awards last year and Skyharbor bagged the Emergist Artist award and Best Song for “Maeva.” Dhar picks his current favorites on loop right now.
Periphery ”“ “Masamune”
Very little needs to be said about this, really. It’s just groove city from beginning to end. Unstoppable waist-banging!
Deftones ”“ “Romantic Dreams”
I just can’t get enough of the new Deftones record. It’s like all the best elements across their discography melded together into this sound. Such amazing arrangement and songwriting.
Oceansize ”“ “Build Us A Rocket Then”
Oceansize are my all time favorite band, and while I usually prefer their more introspective moments, this little rocket [ha] of a tune is a fixture in my playlist these days.
Anup Sastry ”“ “Wastelands”
My drummer has pretty much the whackiest musical mind I have ever encountered. Book yourself a session with your physio before listening to this song, because your neck will be sorely bruised.
Karnivool ”“ “Goliath”
This song has been ripped off by so many bands now. It’s just that catchy, unique and hooky.
