Few Indian artists work as hard as Sahil Makhija aka The Demonstealer, frontman of metal bands such as Demonic Resurrection [DR], Workshop and Reptilian Death. Demonic Resurrection’s third album, Return To Darkness, won the Best Album [Popular choice] and their lead single, “The Unrelenting Surge of Vengeance,” won the Best Song [Popular choice] award at the first Rolling Stone Metal Awards in 2010. Now prepping for DR’s follow-up fourth album and the new Reptilian Death album, Makhija tells us which tracks have made it to the top of his current playlist

Soilwork ”“ “Rise Above The Sentiment”

I’m a Soilwork fanboy. I love their music. Their melodies are the catchiest ones ever. This song is from their latest album, The Living Infinite, and it’s absolutely stellar stuff even though [guitarist] Peter [Wichers] quit the band, but these guys have nailed it.

Periphery ”“ “Make Total Destroy”

I’m not very big on the whole Djent sound but these guys know how to do it right. The song is absolutely SICK. The video is even sicker. Top notch!

Ninja Tracks ”“ “Destroyer Of Worlds”

I saw the The Wolverine trailer and it blew my mind. That was the first time I watched a movie trailer on loop to realize I was really drawn to the music behind it. It turns out that this is the song.

Lacuna Coil ”“ “Trip The Darkness”

This is actually not a very new song but I’m a huge fan of the band and the chorus of this song is addictive and haunting. It keeps ringing in my head, forcing me to play the song over and over.

The Faceless ”“ “The Ancient Covenant”

I got into this song because I kept watching the drum camera video of this song. Their old drummer [who is in the video] is amazing and just watching him play blows me away. I’ve got addicted to the main running guitar melody that sounds a bit like an evil cartoon piece, but I love it.
