Band also digs out War's "Two Hearts Beat as One" at latest Las Vegas residency show

U2 JOHN KATSILOMETES/LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
While Achtung Baby is the centerpiece of U2’s game-changing Las Vegas residency, the band have been using the Sphere to revisit long-forgotten songs from their catalog. That continued Friday night as Bono and company dug out “Seconds” for the first time live since 1985.
“A great Adam Clayton bassline that he has not played for 40 years,” Bono said in the lead-up. “From the War album, ‘Seconds.’” Bono then turned lead vocals over to the Edge, who sang the majority of the unlikely performance, with plenty of audience participation. “Good singing,” Bono quipped at the end.
While the U2:UV Achtung Baby shows usually stick to a rigid setlist, the stripped-down “Turntable” portion of the concert allows for U2 to play around a bit, and residency shows thus far have seen the band unearth tracks like “When Love Comes to Town,” “MLK” and, also on Friday night, “Two Hearts Beat as One,” another War track that hadn’t been performed since 2015.
The biggest surprise so far, however, was when Lady Gaga — dressed like Bono — made a surprise appearance to perform “All I Want Is You” along with her A Star Is Born hit “Shallow” at the Sphere.
The “Achtung Baby” residency launched on September 29 to open the Sphere. One day after the residency was announced, due to overwhelming demand, more concerts were scheduled for October and November. Following the record-setting run, 11 more dates were announced, including two shows kicking off Super Bowl Weekend in Sin City. The residency is currently scheduled to conclude on February 18, 2024.
