Today, a new label called IndieA Records launched in India with the intention to nurture and promote independent artists. Backed by Universal Music India, the organization also dropped its first piece of music in the shape of singer-songwriter Shashwat Sachdev’s elegant song “Awaara Ho.”
A press statement read, “IndieA Records is an artist-first platform committed to actively discover varied music from independent artists, across genres and languages, and make their craft accessible to a wider discerning audience, through strategic partnerships and differentiated marketing.”
Sachdev, who was keen on releasing music away from the composing he does for films, jumped at the opportunity of being the first artist to have his music released by the new label. “Good pop music should be very simple but still should account for hugely complex things and emotions. That was my intention with ‘Aawara Ho’ and with IndieA Records,” he said in a statement.
